From Iomega:
IomegaWare provides integrated features that will help you find, format, protect, manage and change settings on your Iomega drives. Support is included for Zip, Peerless, Jaz, USB PocketZip, FotoShow Digital Image Center, and HipZip products. These drivers make the drive visible within your operating system. Iomega CopyDisk replaces the default disk copy utility found in Windows and adds support for Iomega drives. Version 4.0.2 offers updated Active Disk engine.
Windows XP on install (with SP3) has good drivers for Adaptec 2940 SCSI controllers and drivers for JAZ, ZIP, and multiple other vendoe CD and CD/RW drives including Toshiba and Yamaha drives. I used some Internal and some External easily moved from machine to machine when needed. RE: Iomega 250 zip drive driver update for windows 10 I went to the referenced address and found several companies offering help with downloading drivers. It gave the appearance that they could provide Iomega Zip Drive support.
What do you need to know about free software?

(Solved) - Iomega Zip Drive & Windows Vista

Call me old fashion, but I still use a Zip Drive, in addition to Hard Drive, External Hard Drive, and copies on CD's. I am having problems with the existing 100MB unit ( unit does not recognize the disc when inserted. I am looking at the 250MB, since it reads and writes 250MB and 100MB Discs. Should the 250MB have any problems ? Manufacture states 'up to Windows XP'. I was of the opinion that if it will work on 'XP' it should work on 'Vista'. Any thoughts ???
Ah, that takes me back to an earlier time. Iomega Zip drives, Jaz drives, the click-of-death, competition from super floppies -- good times!
Now, what kind of interface are you connecting the Zip drive with? All mine were SCSI. (More nostalgia: remember when SCSI rocked?) If you have a SCSI adapter that works in Vista -- hardware and drivers -- I would think that you could mount and read Zip disks even though they might only be seen as 'generic drives' since the Zip drivers (IomegaWare) probably won't work.
Iomega Zip Drives are still made. So drivers may be available
I have another question related to the Zip Drive. When I plan to send a document to the 'Zip', I highlite the document and click onto 'send' and get the drop down menu. On the drop down there are two 'Zip' icons, and both appear to work. How do I access the drop down and delete one of the duplicated 'Zip' icons ? This old man who likes 'old' technology likes to test you young guys knowledge. So far, your guys have been 'right every time'......keep it up !!!
I accept your challenge, Sir! I believe you are referring to the Send To option on that menu. Open a file explorer window (Win+E) and in the Address bar, type 'shell:sendto' without the quotes. This will take you to your SendTo *folder* where you can add or delete shortcuts that will show up in the Send To menu. If both of the Zip icons are there, delete the one that you don't want. If only one shows up there, we will need to look elsewhere.
You guys are unbelievable. You are right again !!!!!!!!
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks
javaboy, you are welcome, welcome, welcome! Keep 'em coming -- I love a challenge.
BTW, I gotta thank my buddy, Justin (jd2066), for teaching me the shell: trick.
FYI, I have a Iomega Zip 100, last month I was looking for some old files, hooked it up to Vista HPremium laptop, worked as a charm. Maybe this is of no help but at least you know it can work.
Not trying to hijack this topic, but since it seems resolved, I was wondering what other 'shell' commands (other than 'shell:sendto') exit?
This is the best list that I have of all the shell: commands available in XP and Vista. If anyone else has a better or newer list, I'd like to see it:

There is also my list of shell: shortcuts at http://www.techoddity.com/howto/windows/working-with-known-folders/shortcuts
With this you do not need them

I installed a Internal 100MB Iomega Zip Drive using IDE cable and 'master' jumper. My MOBO is SATA running Vista 64. The BOIS shows the Iomega 100MB as a device, so it is found. Under Windows Device Manager there is no Iomega device or anything related, no drive letter under my computer etc. I tried to find software and/or drivers. Is Hardware Helper from PC HelpSoft my only option? I'm looking for a free solution. Thanks in advance. If interested I'm needing to get my JPG from those 5 disks. I looked for a friend with a Zip Drive, no luck. Not sure if a USB version from Ebay would be any better/compatible etc.
Robland Hi, could you please start a new topic, this one is two years old and is now closed
